It is utterly laced with barbs which are razor sharp. The growth tips are scarlet red with the foliage aging to a dark mat green colour which sets off the Deep Crimson blooms perfectly. flowering freely all the way through the summer. The blooms open completely flat and are tightly packed with hundreds of petals, which bleach out slightly as the flower ages, giving a deep raspberry ripple effect to the flower now, sadly discontinued in the UK it is still widely available through David Austin in other locations worldwide It’s the fragrance that sets this rose apart from its competitors, Rich , bold, fruity full of old rose charm, with notes of blackberries, apples, and sweet summer puddings.
