I’ve been putting the @tracksmith Eliot Racer to the test in Iten on long runs, track workouts, and classic Kenyan fartleks. Here’s what I’ve learned so far 🇰🇪 👟 With a 38mm stack height, a 7.5mm drop, and a full-length carbon plate, the Eliot Racer takes a different approach to speed. Instead of layering foam and glue, it uses a drop-in midsole, meaning your foot sits directly on the high energy return ATPU foam for a more responsive, connected feel. According to Tracksmith, the combination of the ATPU midsole and Pebax chassis delivers some of the highest recorded energy return levels, while the cross-rocker carbon plate minimises energy loss at toe-off. The cushioning hits that balance of firm yet efficient, keeping you fresh deeper into the run. On the track, it felt stable and direct. On fartleks, it handled high speeds without feeling overly soft. And on long runs, it held its efficiency without fatiguing the legs too much. The outsole also gripped surprisingly well on Iten’s famous dirt roads. Is it the best racing shoe out there? Time will tell…but this one definitely takes a unique approach.
