Stop asking about marketable courses. Start asking how to become a marketable person. I get this message constantly. Elvis, which courses are the most marketable in Kenya today? Wrong question. A course is fine. But the person carrying the skills from that course is what the market actually hires. Look at the evidence. Two hundred people enrol in the same course. They sit the same exams. They graduate together. Then only a handful get hired. If the course itself was the qualification, they would all be working. The course was never the variable. The person was. I see this most clearly in tech. Someone completes four years of computer science and struggles for months. Meanwhile someone with a diploma in IT is employed and earning well. Why? Because the second person brought something to the table. Web development skills. Design ability. Projects they can show. Things they can actually do on day one. Nobody is employed today because of papers or because they picked a fashionable degree. So change your approach entirely. Choose your course, then immediately ask what makes me valuable inside this field. If you are doing BCom, add CPA. Add data analysis. Add practical experience. Layer real skills on top of the theory. Because the economy hires competence, not performance. You can score brilliantly in academics and still be passed over, because excelling in exams and being able to do the job are two different things. So build the ability while you study. Do projects. Take small jobs. Learn the tools your industry actually uses. There is no such thing as a marketable course. There are only marketable people. Become one. And join us starting tomorrow for our classes on AI and social media management. — Elvis W.
