But NOTHING this good 😍 I think I’m the first!! 🤯 I originally planned to use a hidden piano hinge to allow the sides to swing open like a door. Once it came time to install them, I hated that plan. In order for the doors to clear the wall when they swung, there had to be a sizable gap between the fireplace & the wall, which not only looked unfinished, but was a dead giveaway that they opened. I wanted this to be truly 100% hidden. I wanted it to look as if it were fully attached to the wall… seamless. Enter cabinet drawer slides 🤩 something I’ve never.
Seen used before!! Because these let the doors slide forward rather than swing to the side, no clearance was needed with the wall! After some modifications to the original framing, I recess mounted 3 slides to each door, and trimmed all the edges & corners as you would a regular fireplace. A gentle pull on the corner molding, and out slides the door! Inside is not just access to the electrical… I had constructed 3 shelves spanning the entire length of the fireplace - PERFECT for hiding all the tv boxes, controllers, board games, etc!
